Town information- The large, industrial town of Walsall, West Midlands with its estimated population of 253,500 inhabitants, is regarded as fourth most populated area in West Midlands conurbation. It is located in England in the Sovereign State of United Kingdom. The area lies just north west of neighbouring Birmingham and east of Wolverhampton. Walsall derived its name directly from “walh walh” which means “Valley of the Celtic speakers”. Suburbs and areas of Walsall include Alumwell, Beechdale, Bescot, Birchills, Bentley, Blakenall Heath, Bloxwich, Broadway, Caldmore, The Delves, Coalpool. Goscote, Forest Estate, Harden, Highgate, Leamore, Park Hall, Palfrey, Pelsall, Pleck, Reedswood, Ryecroft, Rushall, Shelfield and Tame Bridge.
Transportation- Transportation services in the area are excellent, with a choice of either rail or road travel. Walsall Bus Station is divided into two smaller bus stations, with more than 90 routes covered by eleven operators with regular services to neighbouring towns and villages including Birmingham, Wolverhamptom, Willenhall, Bloxwich, Cannock, Brownhills, Oldbury, Dubley, Stourbridge, Alumwell, Beechdale, Chuckery, Park Hall and Mossley Estate. Walsall is also home to one of the busiest railway station in the area, with four trains departing south and two north every hour. Walsall can be accessed via three motorway junctions.
Art and culture- The New Art Gallery Walsall holds regular contemporary art exhibitions including works of local, national and international artists such as Monet, Turner, Constable, Renoir and Gavin Turk. If interactivity is more you cup of tea, the Discovery Gallery is an absolute must-see.
